Update: Elderly woman found dead in North Ruimveldt home

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The battered of body of an elderly woman was discovered early Wednesday morning (March 26) by neighbours in the community of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

The woman has been identified as 75 – year – old Joyce Lewis, who lived alone. The discovery was made around 8:00 hrs at Christiani Street, North Ruimveldt.

iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) was informed that the woman was found with her panties below her knees and the house was ransacked. Reports indicate that she might have been raped.

The perpetrators gained entry into the house from a window.

It is not yet clear how the woman died, however it is being speculated that her throat was slit or she might have been strangled to death. iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) was unable to confirm these reports.

This news entity (www.inewsguyana.com) was also informed that the woman’s late husband was an Inspector in the Guyana Police Force. Police and relatives are currently on the scene. More details will be provided as it becomes available.
