Sickly 24-Y-0 remanded on cocaine charge

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – four – year old Mark Sauers, known as ‘Marco’, appeared before City Magistrate, Judy Latchman charged with the offense of conspiracy to traffic narcotics.

It is alleged that Sauers of 11^th Street, Dazzel Housing Scheme, Paradise, East Coast Demerara between January 01, 2014 and January 17, 2014 at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara conspired with Jermaine Lowe to traffic 15.308 KG cocaine.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense. Seeking reasonable bail for her client, the Attorney said that Sauers suffers from Sickle Cell disease and he has received certain threats from inmates while he was on remand for another matter.

As for the allegation placed before her client, she said he completely denies any involvement.

However, the Prosecution objected to bail, pointing out that the accused has a similar matter before the Providence Magistrate’s Court and that he may interfere with the Prosecution’s main witness in the matter.

In this regard, Magistrate Latchman remanded Sauers to prison and he is scheduled to re-appear in court on December 07.
