The scene of the accident [iNews’ Photo][www.inewsguyana.com] – Several persons are now injured after a minibus slammed into a 4×4 pick-up at the intersection of Homestretch and Mandela Avenue – outside the home of President, David Granger.
According to information reaching iNews, the driver of the minibus failed to stop at the traffic light on Mandela Avenue and drove into the pickup, which was driving south along Mandela Avenue.
The scene of the accident [iNews’ Photo]iNews was told that the brakes of the minibus failed and that the driver tried his best to avoid a collision with another vehicle. In doing so, he slammed into the side of the pick-up, sending it off the road and into a canal adjacent to the President’s home.
It is understood that several persons inside the minibus were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital. The driver of the pick-up is said to have sustained a serious injury to his upper torso and was also taken to the hospital for treatment. [Jomo Paul]
