Construction Worker charged with possession of cocaine

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – nine – year old Shrinauth Persaud, a construction worker of La Parfaite Harmonie Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara appeared before City Magistrate, Alex Moore, charged with the possession of half a gram of cocaine.

It is alleged that Persaud on October 18, 2015 at Kitty, Georgetown had the illegal substance in his possession, to which he pleaded not guilty.

His lawyer told the court that his client is innocent of the offense, explaining that on the day in question, police on the scene found the drugs on the ground, picked it up and asked Persaud if it was his, which he denied.

Nonetheless, he was arrested. Bail was granted in the sum of $30,000 and Persaud will make his next court appearance on November 19 for trial.
