Construction worker charged with murder of Diamond businesswoman

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – two – year old Colin Grant, accused of murder, which occurred almost two years ago, finally made his first court appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Wednesday, November 11.

It is alleged that Grant, of Lot 1161 Diamond, Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara on August 31, 2013 at Diamond, murdered Sirmattie Ramanaress during or after the course of a robbery.

Grant, who is a construction labourer, was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge. The father of one was remanded to prison and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on December 15.

It was on August 31, 2013 that the body of 46 – year – old Sirmattie Ramnaress, a businesswoman was found with an apparent stab wound and injuries to her head and body in the garage of her Diamond home.
