[www.inewsguyana.com] – Forty – three – year old Richard Burne appeared Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, charged with the offense of robbery under arms.

It is alleged that the accused, of Lot 15 Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, on November 09, 2015 in Georgetown, while being armed with a knife, robbed Roopnarine Saw of one Silver Chain valued $35,000, one gold and silver hand band valued $35,000 and $47,000 in cash.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and according to the prosecution, on the day in question, the accused approached the virtual complainant from behind, held at knife at his throat and proceeded to rob him.

The Prosecution further explained that the victim managed to raise an alarm, which ultimately caused the accused to escape on foot, dropping the alleged stolen silver chain.

Burne was later apprehended. He was remanded to prison and is slated to make his next court appearance on December 14.
