[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force says that the wife of a Police Sergeant has been slapped with an assault charge after being subject to some amount of “shielding” from the Police Officer.
The woman, Shellon Peters was only charged after an article was published in local media highlighting the issue.
The police said it conducted impartial investigations into the matter, after which legal advice was sought.
As a result, Peters and Leona Ram were both slapped with assault charges and appeared before a Magistrate. According to the Police, they appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s court on Tuesday March 17, before Magistrate Sunil Scarce where they both pleaded not guilty.
They were placed on cash bail and are to return to court on April 03 for the continuation of the matter.
