[www.inewsguyana.com] – The proprietor of Hamson’s General Store was found lying on his back with what is suspected to be a stab wound to the chest early Thursday morning his Nandy Park East Bank Demerara home.

An earlier report by iNews stated that the man died from a gunshot wound. However, the police have since issued a statement saying that the man’s body bore “suspected stab wounds”.

Reports indicate that 56-year-old Farouk Hamid was found by his common law wife who went to the house early in the morning after several calls placed to his mobile phone and landline went unanswered.

Meanwhile, the man’s brother Fazil Hamid told reporters that the body was discovered by his common law wife.

The brother pointed out too that his brother recently had an argument with a former employee whom he identified as Floyd.

When iNews arrived at the scene at 97 Collingwood Avenue, family members and workers from his establishment had gathered after hearing the news of Hamid’s sudden demise.

iNews Guyana understands that the man may have been tending to his canine pets when he was attacked by the former employee

According to a neighbour, the man may have been killed on Wednesday evening since she noticed some irregularities in the home around that time.

She explained that the lights on the home were off and a door was sprawling open, but she did not suspect anything after coming to the conclusion that her neighbour has travelled out of the country as is norm.

Police officers were seen combing through an adjacent empty lot for the suspected murder weapon.

It was explained that a “long knife” which was usually kept at the back of the yard was missing however investigators left the scene with a crowbar which is suspected to be some of the evidence from the crime scene.

Persons residing in close proximity to Hanson expressed fear for their lives noting that it could have been any of them who was attacked.
