[www.inewsguyana.com] – Alleged bandit, 26 – year – old Dexter Lindo of 28 Shell Road, Kitty died today [Sunday, August 24] at the Balwant Singh Hospital while receiving medical treatment for a gunshot wound he sustained on Saturday afternoon.

The Guyana Police Force noted that Lindo was shot by a license firearm holder after he and his accomplice attempted to rob Wayne Beverage Paradise stall at Merriman’s Mall, Bourda, Georgetown.

The owner raised an alarm and the two fled in a waiting car. They were tracked by the licensed firearm holder in his vehicle and who subsequently saw the getaway car at Light and Fifth Street, Alberttown.

The police noted that the licensed firearm holder confronted a man who had exited the car and entered a shop in the area, during which the man pulled out a firearm when he was shot to his abdomen by the licensed firearm holder.

The man however managed to escape on foot, but the unlicensed .32 Beretta Pistol with 4 rounds that he had in his possession was recovered and handed over to the police. He was later found at a private hospital.

Meanwhile, the father of the dead man has refuted claims that his son was a criminal and that he was associated with criminal elements.

During an interview with iNews today, he explained that a friend of his son had an issue with a female who is connected to the license firearm holder and that his son was not the intended target of the shooting.

The family was reluctant to share a photo of Lindo.

  2. Dear A. Nelson the word here is “suspected” definition:-1.believe somebody is guilty: to believe that somebody may have committed a crime or wrongdoing without having any proof.
2.doubt something: to doubt the truth or validity of something
3.believe something to be so: to think that something is probable or likely. Here is where the law comes in to prove such. Not for everyone to become judge, jury an executioner. If the person who was shot was caught in the act or an intruder it would be different but if not it is murder all because this person had time to notify the Police with this information.

  3. police dont do shit….an what a man like dat doing with an unlicense firearm weapon plus moving in a tinted vehicle what does dat suppose to mean…….

  4. ALL THEM BANDIT A SAINT – AND FOR Andre YOU CALL THE POLICE AND 24 HOURS WILL PASS AND NO POLICE. WE THE BUSINESS MEN NEED TO DO WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO PROTECT OURSELF.

  5. This is a foolish statement. may I ask you? Do you really know everyone of your acquaintances or so-called friends? Always remember we live in the real world where you might be able to choose at times but not all the time you get it right.

  6. Having a firearm does not give you the right to shoot any one. If you are attacked or in a case of defending your property it all depends on the circumstances. But to follow someone and then gun them down, in which time you could have called the Police it can be deemed either a murder or assassination. Which you should be charged with such.

  7. Alott of people are getting rob on a daily basis… I say if u have a gun n ur a suspected bandit u deserve to get shot

  8. Is this an abuse of firearm license? He had enough time to follow the car which means he could have called the police and let them deal with the matter. Take the car number and stuff like that. I hope they do a good Investigation
