Pork Knocker remanded for illegal possession of Marijuana

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Pork-Knocker was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, after pleading not guilty to the offence of illegal possession of marijuana, which he allegedly hid in his crotch.

The Court heard that Murphy France of Pomeroon on March 28 at Arangai Backdam, Cuyuni River, Essequibo, had 17 grammes of marijuana in his possession.

Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the court that police on mobile patrol stopped the defendant as he was going through a track and requested to conduct a search.

It was then the officers found the prohibited drug which was concealed in a black plastic bag in his pants crotch. The prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that no special reason was raised by the defendant for bail to be granted.

Bail was refused and the matter was transferred to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court for June 01.
