[www.inewsguyana.com] – The file in relation to the Colwyn Harding matter is again in the possession of the police, after it left the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Crime Chief, Leslie James told iNews that based on what he has seen in the file, he is very confident that charges will be laid.

Asked about the back and forth of the file, James explained that the police are conducting intense work on it to ensure that when it goes to Court, the case is a solid one and will not be thrown out.

He said that there are the legal issues which need to be dealt with and according to him; the police are working to ensure that they get everything properly done.

Colwyn Harding was reportedly raped with a baton by a police officer while he was in custody and ill-treated by other ranks of the Timehri Police Station where he was being detained in November 2013.

There has been much unease in society with respect to the investigations into the matter causing many to suggest that the police are taking their very own time in investigating their own. [Leroy Smith]
