One year jail for labourer who admitted to stealing

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Carl Trudor, a 42 – year – old labourer was today sentenced to one year imprisonment by Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond for the offence of breaking and entering.   

He pleaded guilty to the charge, particulars of which stated that on February 22, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown, he broke and entered the Compact Disc office and stole one cellular phone and one Panasonic radio/tape together valued $20,000, property of Rawle Paul, a worker of Mayor and City Council.

City Constabulary Corporal James Garnette, prosecuting, said Paul secured his office by the means provided and left to collect his daughter from school. Upon his return, he saw the defendant leaving his office with the articles.

 

The labourer told the court that he is a smoker with prior convictions. He begged for leniency stating that he does not wish to waste the Court’s time.
