Neighbourhood police allegedly beats man with pool stick; offers $150,000 settlement

Pool sticks[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Neighbourhood Police attached to the Leonora Police Station is being accused of beating a man mercilessly with a pool stick.

Information reaching iNews revealed that Neighbourhood Police, Seepaul Seenauth was ‘hanging out’ at a shop in Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara, imbibing and playing a game of pool when he claimed that 39 -year – old Deokarran Singh snatched his gold chain from his neck.

This reportedly led Seenauth to take the stick and beat Singh, inflicting injuries to his head and body.

iNews understands that after the matter was brought to the attention of the police and Divisional Commander, Senior Superintendent Amsterdam it was discovered that Seenauth paid the man a sum of $150,000 to settle the matter.

The incident which occurred on Sunday night has created unease in the community, with residents saying that Seenauth acted unprofessionally regardless of his allegations.

Efforts to contact Seenauth proved futile. However when contacted, Snr. Supt. Amsterdam would only say that the matter being investigated. He claimed he could not provide any details in relation to the incident.
