Mother, Son busted with cocaine at CJIA

cocaine[www.inewsguyana.com] – A woman from Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara and her Canadian son were busted with a large quantity of cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), just after noon today (Tuesday, July 8).

The duo has been identified as 50 – year – old Esarbai Gokul and 20 – year – old Anand Gokul.

The illicit substance was found by agents of the Customs Anti – Narcotics Unity (CANU) in four false bottom suitcases. Two of the suitcases were tagged to the son while two belonged to the mother. They have been arrested and are in police custody.

They two were outgoing passengers on Caribbean Airlines BW 606 enroute to Canada.

Just about a week ago a father and his son were busted with cocaine at the port. The father was remanded, while he son secured bail in the High Court.

Over weekend there were several busts at the CJIA. So far a Briton, American and a pregnant Guyanese woman and man have all been arrested in connection with trafficking cocaine, which were concealed in milk pages and tin and ceramic ornaments.

  1. they know if caught they getting 4 yrs and thats it..if the thing for coke is like 100 yrs u bet dem ent taking that chanc…

  2. Why are these people bringing cocaine out of Guyana? It’s unnerving to think that this drug is so much in Guyana?
