Miner on bail for refusing to pay taxi fare

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A miner of Lot 214 Goed Fortune, West Bank Demerara was on Thursday, April 30 released on $15,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, after he was accused of taking a taxi and refusing to pay.

Raymond Hernellez pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that between February 20 and March 15 at Georgetown, he incurred a debt of $19,500, by travelling in a motorcar and refusing to pay.

According to the victim, the miner entered his vehicle and was taken to his requested destinations. The two agreed that the next day the taxi driver would have been paid since the defendant did not have any cash at the time; this however never materialized.

Bail was granted and the he is scheduled to reappear in Court on May 04.
