Lindo of Lot 220 Belle West Canal No. 2, West Bank Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable offence, which alleged that between July 08 and 10, 2014, at the Tactical Service Unit (TSU), Eve Leary, Georgetown, he conspired with Lennox ‘Two Colours’ Wayne and others to murder Khan.
According to the Prosecution, Khan was shot between July 8 and 10, 2014 after which he went missing on August 21. On September 22, 2014, a headless body was found in Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.
A DNA test was carried out and the result revealed that it was Khan; hence Lindo was arrested based on the statements by Wayne that there was a plot between him and the accused to murder the businessman.
Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru opposed to bail based on the seriousness of the offence and the penalty it attracts. Mangru further cited that Lindo may pose a flight risk if bail is granted.
According to Mangru, 31 witnesses are slated to testify in the case. Defence Attorney-at-law, Ms. Daniels told the court that her client is married with three children and served the Police force for 23 years. She added that throughout the investigation, Lindo cooperated with the police and after he learnt that he was going to be charged, he went to work dressed for court.
Counsel said her client wants the case to be ventilated and has no thoughts of being a flight risk. Daniels further urged the court that the offence is a bailable one and the accused is not a flight risk.
The prosecution’s objection was upheld and the matter was put off to June 12, for report and fixtures.
