Labourer remanded for possession of illegal firearm

Court w[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 23 – year – old labourer of Second Street, Crane Village, West Coast Demerara, was remanded to prison on a firearm charge by Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Junior Williams pleaded not guilty to the offence, which alleged that on Thursday, July 30 at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he had in his possession a semi automatic pistol, when he was not a licensed firearm holder.

According to Police Prosecutor, Dinero Jones the defendant is presently being investigated on a murder charge.

However, the unrepresented defendant contradicted the statement made by the Prosecutor and told the Court that he does not have any other charge. The case will be called again on August 7 before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
