court[www.inewsguyana.com] – Charleston Glasgow of 163 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was yesterday (Friday June 27),  refused bail on a wounding charge, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence which alleged that on Tuesday, June 24 at Granny Backdam, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Gregory Scott.

Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru said the virtual complainant (VC) and defendant work at the same place  when around 20:00 hrs on the day in question they had a misunderstanding about who should look after their boss’ operation.

The Prosecutor said the defendant armed himself with a knife and dealt the victim a stab to his lower abdomen. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex and later transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital.

Prosecutor Mangru successfully objected to the pretrial liberty by citing the seriousness and prevalence of the offence. He also opposed to bail on the grounds that the victim is still hospitalized.

He was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to Christianburg Court for July 1
