Georgetown man fined $25,000 after threatening to hang wife

[www.inewsguyana.com]Thirty – Seven – year old Lawrence Moore of North Ruimveldt Georgetown was placed before the court for threatening language.

Moore pleaded guilty to the offence before Magistrate Fabayo Azore. The particulars of the case state that on October 30 at Clifford Avenue, Lamaha Springs Georgetown he threatened his wife Natasha Yearwood.

According to the prosecution, the accused and complainant have been living together for nine years and on the day in question, the accused called the woman’s phone to speak with his daughter but she turned off the phone.

The prosecutor said that the accused made another call to the woman’s phone and left a threatening message saying that he will hang her if she is to ever disconnect his calls again.

Without much deliberation the Magistrate fined the accused $25,000 or an alternative of two months in jail. [Royan Abrams]
