Four males to be charged following police raids

Police 1[www.inewsguyana.com] – From seventy five persons picked up as part of the combined police  search operation on August 15, in A, B and C Divisions, it is confirmed that four persons will be appearing in Court, charged with various offences.

iNews was reliably informed that the persons are from ‘C’ Division [East Coast Demerara], namely Sophia and Industry. Two of the four are charged with simple larceny and the other two with break and enter.

The police in C Division indicated that the four men are wanted  for the very offences but were never apprehended.

Meanwhile, the police in A [Georgetown/East Bank Demerara] and B [Berbice] divisions indicated that they have not been able to match the prints of any of the detained persons to any previous crime scenes.

On Friday morning, the policed searched more than four dozen homes where they picked up persons for profiling and others for questioning in the commissioning of various crimes.

In “A” Division (Georgetown/East Bank Dererara) a total of 26 buildings were searched in Georgetown, Sophia, and at Kaneville, EBD. Fifty men and 6 women were arrested pending investigations into various offences including Robbery under Arms, Trafficking in Narcotics and Break and Enter and Larceny.

An unlicensed 16 gauge sawn-off shot gun, 695 grams of cannabis sativa (marijuana) and 9 grams of cocaine were found during the operation.

In “B” Division, six buildings were searched in the Alness, Limlair, Nurney and Salton area, Corentyne, during which an air rifle was recovered.

Seven men were arrested pending investigations into Robbery under Arms and Break and Enter and Larceny.

In “C” Division, a total of 26 buildings were searched in the Sophia, Vryheid’s Lust, Cummings Lodge, Turkeyen and Better Hope South areas.

Nine men and three women were arrested pending investigations into Robbery under Arms and Break and Enter and Larceny.

Two motor cycles that are suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained have been seized by the police.
