[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two men accused of murdering Michael Dillon appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday, August 24 and were remanded to prison.

It is alleged that 25 – year – old Kwesi Walker of Upper Berbice River and 26 -year – old Rayon Anthony Shivamber also of Upper Berbice River, murdered Dillon between April 26 and April 27.

They were not allowed to plead to the indictable charge of murder and the particulars of the case were not revealed in court; however Attorney for Walker, Jerome Khan told the court that his client was severely beaten by police officers at the Linden Police Station.

According to the lawyer, Walker was only allowed to seek medical attention when he was transferred to CID Headquarters at Eve Leary, Georgetown. The Lawyer pleaded with Magistrate McLennan for his client to seek further medical treatment because he is still experiencing pain in his lower back and side.

The Attorney noted that Walker has no previous antecedents with the law and that the relatives are willing to pay a private hospital to have Walker seek further treatment.

However, the prosecution objected to the Attorney’s request, noting that due to the vastness and remoteness of the interior, the defendant might not show up for his trial.

Hence, both defendants were eventually remanded and will make their next court appearance at the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court on September 18.
