Police Constable crushed by truck while on duty

crime[www.inewsguyana.com] – A police constable who has been identified as Constable 22349 Eldon Williams of Brickdam Police Station was killed while on duty on Monday, July 06.

iNews understands that the police constable was at the time placing  barriers along the Providence Access Road, EBD where the Hits and Jams “Soca on the Beach” event is scheduled.

Police sources indicated that while placing the barriers, a truck was reversing and the driver reportedly failed to adhere to the directions given to him by other ranks when the jersey of the police constable came into contact with the truck and he was pulled to the ground, where he was crushed to death.

The driver of the truck has been taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations.

‘A’ Division Commander Clifton Hicken confirmed the incident and said that the Guyana Police Force extends its sympathy to the relatives of the rank who lost his life in the line of duty.

  1. The government n ministers are doing a bunch of stupidness. The crime rate is really high n instead of closing down bars at 2 am they should try n upgrade security to try stop robbery. But this is change people voted for from bad to worst

  2. Very Sad. Deepest Condolences to the family of the Constable who lost his life in the line of duty as well as the members of the Guyana Police Force.who lost a colleague. May his soul rest in Peace.
