[www.inewsguyana.com] – Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Monday, June 01 remanded another man for the murder of a Sterling Security Guard, which occurred last year.

Uree Voswick was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that on December 08, 2014 at Sterling Products Limited, Providence, East Bank Demerara he murdered Wilfred Stewart during the course of a robbery.

Voswick, who was unrepresented in court, remained calm as he stood from the prisoner docks. Police prosecutor Bharat Mangru requested that the matter be trial alongside Rayon Paddy and Orin Arthur, who were recently charged for the same offence. The matter was adjourned until June 22, for report and fixtures.

According to reports on the day in question, eyewitnesses related to police that a car load of men showed up at the facility and barged into the compound. They first turned their attention to Stewart who always carries a firearm and shot him twice, killing him in the process.

They also injured Indian national Gabriel Dass before attempting to make their way to the finance department of the company. Those efforts were however unsuccessful although the men were able to relieve the security guard of his firearm after killing him.

Former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) rank Rayon Paddy, 26, of 278 South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, and construction worker Orin Arthur, 25, of Block X Diamond, East Bank Demerara, were both charged in April with a series of robbery related charges and also two counts of murder.

One of the murder charges alleged that the duo was involved the murder of Wilfred Stewart and execution of Guyana Geology and Mines Commission employee Trevor Abram on February 27, earlier this year on the East Bank of Demerara.
