The woman was identified as Odessa Laurie, while George is the only name given for the driver, who was allegedly highly intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The accident which was witnessed by an iNews Citizen Reporter, observed that the woman was proceeding North along Irving Street when she was hit from behind with the car.
The car (PMM 3173), which was being driven by the GGMC employee and which had another one of his colleagues seated in the front seat, slammed into the nurse and just proceeded along its way with both men failing to stop and render assistance to the woman.
The car was first spotted careening off the road onto the parapet in the vicinity of the Guyana Defense Force Base. With his inability to control the vehicle, he continued to swerve between the road and parapet eventually hitting the woman.
When iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) visited the hospital last evening, the woman was being taken to have an X-ray done while she noted that she cannot remember what transpired.
