[www.inewsguyana.com] – A minibus conductor of Lot 43 Princess Street Lodge, Georgetown, was sentenced to 48 months imprisonment on Tuesday, June 23, by Magistrate Judy Latchman on a larceny from person charge.

Kelvin Washington decided to change his plea to guilty and accepted that on March 13 at Regent and Alexander Street, Georgetown he stole one gold bracelet valued $186,000, property of Portia Jacobs.

He made his first appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, where he initially pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Court heard that on the day in question at around 11:00 hrs, Jacobs was in a taxi when the accused approached her and snatched her gold band.

The suspect was later pointed out by the taxi driver whom Jacobs was travelling with on the day in question.
