3 years jail for man found with marijuana; Accomplices granted $25,000 bail

[www.inewsuyana.com] – A 25 – year – old unemployed man was today sentenced to three years imprisonment for the possession of marijuana, while his brother and two others were placed on $25,000 bail each by Magistrate Faith McGusty for the same offense.

Rohan Singh of Railway Street, Kitty, Georgetown, pleaded guilty to the offence which stated that on Wednesday, June 4 at Railway Street, he had in his possession 7.6 grammes of marijuana.

His 25-year-old brother Satesh Singh, along with two others: 27 – year – old Damion Sardina, and 27 – year – old Orrette Sumner, all pleaded not guilty to the same offence.

Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman said on the day in question around 14: 45 hrs acting on information, police on patrol found the four men at the upper flat of the building.

He said a subsequent search was carried out when the prohibited substance was found. The remaining trio will return to Court on June 30 for the commencement of their trial.
