[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 28-year-old man was handed a three year jail sentence on Monday, May 04 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for the offence of trafficking cocaine.
Patrick Simmons pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on Saturday, May 02 at Bourda Market, Georgetown he had in his possession of 1.75 grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the prosecution, police on patrol at Bourda Market stopped and searched Simmons, when they saw a black plastic bag in his pants waist.
The said bag was opened and several small rock-like particles, suspected to be the illicit substance were found. Simmons was also fined $30,000.
