[www.inewsguyana.com] – A tailor and father of a six month old baby girl, 26 – year – old Bharat Petamber of 1401 Section C, Block Y Grove, East Bank Demerara was murdered this evening (Tuesday, July 01).
The man was reportedly heading home when he was attacked by two men who had earlier in the week attempted to rob him.
Speaking with iNews at the Diamond Hospital, the dead man’s wife Menedai Persaud explained that she was at home when she got the news. She indicated that her husband indicated to her that he sold his bird for $45, 000 and that he was going to purchase another bird for $15,000 less.
However, after indicating that he was on his way home, she waited on him but he did not show up. Shortly after, two of his friends approached her home and related that something was wrong. When they travelled to the location where the man operates a tailor establishment, police were conducting investigations and informed the woman of the tragedy.
The man was reportedly stabbed in the region of the chest and had other cuts on his arms. The police related that he also had his pockets turn out confirming that he was robbed.
Petamber was suspected to have had on his person the money which he got from selling the bird. Persaud said that two nights ago when her husband was heading home, he was confronted two men who attempted to rob him and then asked him for beer money and he told them that they were crazy.
