Princess Street resident remanded for breaking and entering

court[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – Six – year – old Kurt Perreira of Princess Street was remanded to prison by Magistrate Faith McGusty on a break and enter charge.

The unemployed man pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on June 12 at Princess Street, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Nickel McKay and stole one Blackberry cellular phone, one Samsung Galaxy cellular phone,$10,000 cash, 20 jerseys and 9 jeans, together valued $324,000.

According to Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman the victim and the defendant are cousins and both reside in the same building, but different apartments in the upper flat.

He said on the day in question around about 06:45 hrs the victim secured his home and left for work.

Later, when the defendant returned home, he observed the defendant climbing through the stairway with a haversack. The accused upon seeing McKay started to run and the victim gave chase.

However, Perreira managed to escape and the articles mentioned in the particulars were not recovered.

Bail was refused and the matter stands adjourned to July 22.
