[www.inewsguyana.com] – Another suspect in the latest attempted murder in Grove, East Bank Demerara was caught by the police and charged with four offences.

Orrwyn Peters was charged with the attempted murder of Nezam Khan, which alleges that on June 06 at Grove Housing Scheme he discharged a loaded firearm at Khan, with the intent to murder him. He was not required to plea to the indictable offence.

Peters is also accused of robbing Khan of a $200,000 gold chain and a ring which costs $500,000. He was not allowed to plea to this charge either. The 21- year – old man was also charged with the illegal possession of marijuana, to which he pleaded not guilty.

It is also alleged, on the same day Peters was found with seven rounds of .38 ammunition when he is not the holder of a firearm license.

According to information, Peters was stopped by the police on his motorcycle in Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, when a search was conducted and the ammunition was in his right pants pocket. Additionally, the marijuana was found in his pants crotch.

Peters allegedly told the police that he found the ammunition at a play field and bought the marijuana from a man in Leopold Street, Georgetown.

As it relates to the attempted murder and robbery charges, the Court heard that whilst in the company of Curtis Vasconsellos, who was also charged for the said offences, they rode up to Khan and pointed a gun to him.

They allegedly took the gold ring and chain before shooting Khan. Peters and another unknown accomplice escaped but Vasconsellos was shot twice by Khan, who is a licensed firearm holder.

Bail was objected to by the prosecution based on the seriousness and prevalence of the offence; the penalty attached and the fact that a gun was used during the crime.

Peters was remanded to prison and is scheduled to return to court on June 30.
