$20,000 fine for man charged with marijuana possession

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Vinad Sanchana was today (Tuesday, March 18) fined $20,000 on charges of possession of narcotics and indecent language by Magistrate Faith McGusty.

The unrepresented defendant pleaded guilty to both charges, one of which alleged that on Sunday, March 16 at Wakenaam, he had two grammes of marijuana in his possession.

Particulars of other offence stated that on the same day at Maria’s Pleasure, Wakenaam, he made use of indecent language in a public place.

In his defense, he told the Magistrate that he was under the influence of alcohol as it relates to the indecent language offence.
