18 months jail for man who stole Blackberry Phone

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man with no fix place of abode was today sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by Magistrate Faith McGusty after he pleaded guilty to stealing a Blackberry Cell Phone.Andrew (1)

Andrew Gonzales told the Magistrate that he was at the “wrong place at the wrong time.”

The particulars of the case state that on Tuesday, December 31 at Wellington Street, Georgetown he stole one Blackberry 8520 Curve cellular phone, valued $20,000 from Dhoramlako Singh.

After pleading guilty to the offence, the accused asked the Magistrate, “How much time I looking at?”

The unrepresented defendant told the Magistrate “You need to hurry I have to get down the step”.

Magistrate McGusty responded, “I will hurry up sir and I hope the time is sufficient”.
