Update: Waitress shot dead in Chinese restaurant by motorcycle gunmen

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Fifty – Four – year old Debra Blackman was this evening [Saturday, August 23] shot dead inside the Delicious Chinese Restaurant at the corners of Durban and Haley Streets, Georgetown.

While eyewitnesses and police are unclear if the shooting was robbery related, persons said that two men pulled up on a jailing motorcycle and one of them entered the restaurant; shortly after, there was a loud explosion and the man who entered the restaurant was seen racing back to the motorcycle before it sped off.

A police source who confirmed that surveillance footage is being reviewed stated that the footage shows the man entering the restaurant and shooting Blackman.

No one can confirm at this point if the gunman and the woman had an exchange during his short stint in the restaurant or if he attempted to rob the establishment.

One woman who is familiar with Blackman said she lived in Tucville with her children.

iNews understands that Blackman worked at the establishment for some fourteen years and experienced several robberies while standing behind the counter serving customers.

Police are continuing their investigations.
