Teenagers remanded to prison for armed robbery of students

court[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two young men accused of committing a robbery on two school children, were remanded to prison by Magistrate Faith McGusty on Wednesday, April 09.

The defendants – both 16-years-old – denied the allegations, which noted that on Friday, March 30 at the Kingston Seawall, Georgetown, being in the company of two others, armed with a knife, robbed two minors of two cellular phones, one strap bag along with other articles together valued $206,500.

Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman told the Court that on the day in question at around 21:00 hrs, both virtual complainants were sitting on the seawall when the two defendants along with two others on a pedal cycle pounced on them and ordered them not to move or scream.

After committing the robbery, the young men made good their escape but later one of the virtual complainants identified one of them to the Police. Bail was refused and the teenagers will reappear in Court on April 14.
