[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force has re-commissioned the Special Intelligence Office at the Brickdam Police Station to monitor the crime situation within the ‘A’ Division.

Speaking with iNews at the ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 24, Commander and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken said the department will gather information in an efficient manner and will disseminate to the relevant departments of the Force.

He said the office will act as a “nerve center” with photographs and information on persons who are of interest to the police. The Commander was quick to point out that the operations of the office will not overshadow the functions of the Criminal Investigation Department at Eve Leary but will act as a complementary factor to that office.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent, Reshi Dass explained that persons who have information relating to any criminal activity can call 225 – 3052 on a 24 hour basis.

Dass said there was a need to urgently re-establish the office, given the increase in crime in the Division. He is of the view that the shootings and other crimes are not isolated. As such, he assured that the police will leave no stone unturned in punishing those culpable.

  1. Its about time for this development. Criminals love to brag about their exploits ears should be out there to pick on on these conversations. Confidential informants should be developed to feed info to this unit. Its time to get proactive and take the fight to these scum blood suckers.

  2. Well done AC Hicken.Proactive instead of reactive. Now establish a small but well trained special unit, to be on call to deal, on a real time basis, with urgent intel.

  3. Let’s see the people who commit these horrible crimes be brought to justice swiftly…please get the persons who murdered the man in broad day light , because he was asking people not vote for the PPP.
