Son remanded for allegedly threatening mother

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – year – old Kevin Christopher, accused of using threatening language against his mother, appeared before City Magistrate Annette Singh on November 27.

The court heard that on November 25, Christopher at Lot 39 Houston Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara made use of threatening language towards Usha Balram.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and according to the Prosecution, the accused is said to be a drug-addict and is in the constant habit of threatening his mother for food whenever “he is high.”

Based on this information, the prosecution objected to bail, alleging that Christopher might interfere with his mother. In this regard, Magistrate Singh remanded the accused to prison.

He will make his next court appearance on December 16 for the commencement of his trial.
