Isaiah Lennox Marques, of Lot 346 Painlane, ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, sustained a single gunshot wound to his abdomen and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital. The post-mortem  will be conducted at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary.

According to reports, around 02:00hrs, Carl Haynes and his sister were walking along Second Street, Campbellville when they were held at gunpoint by the now dead man.
During the confrontation, Haynes and his sister put up a fight and in retaliation, the perpetrator pulled the trigger of the firearm he was carrying, but it snapped. At this point, Haynes  – a security guard – reportedly pulled out his service revolver and discharged a round at the armed bandit.
An unlicensed .32 revolver was recovered on the perpetrator by the Police. Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum said  investigations were ongoing into the matter. However, he explained that charges were unlikely to be instituted against Haynes, a security guard, since he was defending himself against the perpetrator during an attempted robbery.
Marques was a known character to the Police and had been charged with similar offences in the past. On February 25, 2013, he was charged with robbery under arms and on February 13, 2014, he was slapped with another four charges of robbery under arms.
He was also charged for break and enter and larceny in February 2014 and in August 2015, he was charged for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The young man was released on bail on January 29, 2016.

  1. not displeased with this news… he along with another robbed my daughter on her way home from school late 2012… my child suffered the trauma of that for months, while preparing for CSEC. He was only 16 and had to be at the Detention Centre in Sophia.. his grandmother said her grand child was a good boy…

  2. another pest to society gone, kudos to the security guard defending himself and sister against these predators and you would believe these pest don’t have fathers and mothers and sisters .
