Remand prisoner pleads guilty to attacking Complainant in Court

[www.inewssguyan.com] – A prisoner on remand, who is accused of attacking a complainant in Court, pleaded guilty to the offence before Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond.

Wesley Griffith allegedly assaulted Deryck Halley on June 20 at the Court Magistrate’s Court. The prisoner lunged from the docks and dealt him several cuffs and kicks about his body.

The 19-year-old defendant of Thomas Street, McKenzie Linden, appeared in Court on June 20 last on a robbery with violence matter before Magistrate Judy Latchman which involves 50-year-old self Halley.

The unrepresented prisoner will return to Court on July 30 for sentencing pending a probation report. Griffith told the Court that he was under stress and is sorry for what he did that day.

He allegedly robbed Halley of one motorcycle, one Blackberry cellular phone valued $52,000, one nokia cellular phone valued $25,000 and cash$30,000 house keys, together valued $ 277,000.

Griffith also has an ongoing $5M Amelia Ward’s armed robbery matter at McKenzie Court with three other men.
