Prisoner slapped with another 4 year jail term for marijuana possession

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Ian Fraser was today sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined $38,000 for the possession of marijuana by Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Fraser is currently serving a four year jail term on a similar charge. The sentences will not run concurrently, the Magistrate ruled.

He pleaded guilty to the offence which stated that on July 24 at Camp Street Prison, Georgetown, he had in his possession 32 grammes of cannabis-sativa (marijuana) for the purpose of trafficking.

According to the Prosecution facts, the prisoner on that day was performing duties at Camp Street Prison and around 12:45 hrs when he returned to the facility, a procedural search was carried out, when the substance was found in his crotch.
