Prime Minister’s son found guilty of wounding

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond has found Sam Hinds Jr guilty of the charge of wounding. Hinds Jr is the son of Prime Minister, Samuel Hinds; he will be sentenced on February 20.

In March 2014, the 33 – year – old had pleaded not guilty to two charges which alleged that on February 27, 2014 at Duke Street, Kingston he made use of threatening behavior against his sister-in-law Tenza Layne.

He was also accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounded Layne. The Court was told then that Hinds had accused Layne of stealing one of his cell phones and grabbed the woman by her hair and pushed her to the ground.

The Court heard that he stomped Layne before dragging her on the ground and beating her with a cane. He then brandished a gun, cranked it and threatened to kill her.

Prior to the guilty plea, the Miner was on $150,000 bail. He was represented by Attorney – at – Law, Peter Hugh.
