[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 19-year-old Pork Knocker of Old Kara Kara, Linden was today (January 07) remanded to prison on a murder charge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Rochino Maison was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and was not required to plead to the indictable offence. It is alleged that on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2015) at 111 Miles, Mahdia, Potaro he murdered 50-year-old Andre Britton.

Maison was unrepresented by legal counsel and no details into the incident were presented by Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant. At the end of the brief hearing, the case was transferred to the Mahdia Magistrates’ Court for January 19.

According to reports, Britton, a father of five, was stabbed to his neck and abdomen at his home at 111 Miles, Mahdia.

The Police had said that Britton had earlier confronted Maison for throwing squibs into his yard. The release indicated during the confrontation the 19-year-old was assaulted and he later returned and stabbed the 50-year-old about his body.

Britton was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mahdia Hospital and the 19-year-old was arrested and later charged with murder.
