[www.inewsguyana.com] – An East Coast Demerara (ECD) Pandit is counting his losses and his lucky stars after his home was invaded by burglars in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at Section ‘D’ Non Pariel.

According to Pandit Aditya Persaud, he went to sleep at approximately 22:30 hrs and woke up around 05:00hrs to find his home ransacked and several items missing.

He told iNews that “at five when I woke up I heard the lock on my grill door making a clicking sound like locking a door…when I checked I saw the door wide open.”

He said that upon further inspection, he noticed that the entire grill from the bathroom window on the second flat of the home was ripped out and assumed that the burglar/burglars gained entry via that window.

Persaud reported that the missing items included a few cellular phones and a camera among other gadgets. He also stated that his wife had recently started a business and whatever money she had made for the month was taken along with some other items.

His losses are estimated to be somewhere around $1.5M. It was reported to iNews that several other homes in the community were also burgled around the same time in the morning.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that the Pandit’s house has been burgled; the first incident took place in September 2013 when he lived at 87 11th Street Diamond, East Bank Demerara.

During that incident, the burglars took away a 42 inch Flat Screen TV, his wife’s jewelry and US$1,200 missing, among other articles while no one was home.
