Office of the President employee charged with $1M theft; Granted bail

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Azeem Khan, Personal Assistant of Head of Presidential Secretariat (HPS) Dr Roger Luncheon was today placed on $100,000 bail, following a charge of Break and Enter.

Khan of Pere Street, Kitty appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine – Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that between June 11 and 12 at Georgetown; he stole $1M cash, property of Rudolph Dyal.

According to the Prosecutor, the virtual complainant (VC) is the owner of a two storey concrete and wooden structure, which houses a grocery shop and an apartment at the lower flat. There is a door that separates the two.

The Court heard that Khan was at tenant at the time of the offence. According to the allegations after the complainant discovered monies missing from the shop, he decided to install a surveillance camera. The victim placed $1M in different boxes in his shop on June 11, 2014 and the next day, he discovered the money was missing.

After reviewing the camera footage, Khan was allegedly seen stealing the money. The prosecution did not object to bail but requested that Khan lodge his passport at the Kitty Police Station.

He was ordered to report every Friday at 17:00 hours to the police. Khan will return to Court on July 9 for statements.

  1. I hope a few millions were stolen to warrant a million dollars in bait money. If not, either Rudolph Dyal is a fool or a clown, bordering on fraud.
