[www.inewsguyana.com] – The 21 – year – old Mahaicony mother who poisoned her two children and then attempted to take her own life made her first Court appearance in the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 7.
Awena Rutherford was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until April 21.
The woman killed her two children by poisoning on March 27. Rutherford also consumed the deadly substance, but survived following treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The children have been identified as one – year – old Jabarie Cadogan and four – year – old Odaceia Cadogan.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute that the woman had with her husband, who is residing overseas.
