During a telephone interview with iNews, Dean said he is hurt and in emotional turmoil after he was implicated innocently.
He said this is not only affecting him but his family and it has placed his reputation and credibility on the line.
Dean is the manager of the Anjuman Orphanage in New Amsterdam Berbice. He told iNews that the 13 – year – old is mentally unstable and is a troubled teen that has had numerous issues with others in the New Amsterdam area.
Dean said he has devoted his time to helping children especially those in hard and troubling situations and this seems to be the reward of his labour.
He emphasized that he will continue to cooperate with the police and the truth will triumph and his name will be cleared.
The 13 year-old male who made the claim has been living at the Orphanage for over five years with his sister. It is unclear why the children’s mother left them at the institution even after she reportedly made a promise to the owner Abu Bakkar Mandal that she would take her children to her Canje home and care for them.
Five other boys were taken out of the Orphanage after the allegations reached Ministry of Human Services and investigations are ongoing by the Ministry. The accused was placed on $100,000 station bail and has to report to the New Amsterdam Police Station every Wednesday.
