Mahdia resident allegedly caught with marijuana remanded

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nigel Gordon was remanded to prison on Monday, March 16 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for trafficking narcotics.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that on March 12 at Mahdia Park, he had in his possession 31 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

The Court heard that on the day in question, ranks were on routine patrol at Mahdia Park, when they observed Gordon throwing away a transparent plastic bag.

Upon checking the bag, the police found leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be the prohibited drug. The accused man was unrepresented but he told the Court that he has been living in Mahdia for over 28 years.

He was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court for April 20.
