[www.inewsguyana.com] – A labourer of Lot 18 East Canje Berbice was on Friday April 10, refused bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman on a drug trafficking charge.

Jason Isaacs, 24, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on April 5 at Dovo Landing, Cuyuni River, he had in his possession 198 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones told the court that the illicit substance was found in a brown shoulder bag. Isaacs was represented by Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson, who requested bail for his client, stating that he works in the interior.

Prosecutor Jones successfully opposed bail after citing that no special reasons were given to satisfy the court for bail to be granted. The matter transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for April 29.
