Labourer accused of stealing Samsung Galaxy phone from friend remanded

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 36 – year – old Labourer of Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown, was remanded to prison by Magistrate Annette Singh on a simple larceny charge.

Joel Matthews pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on February 14 at Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown he stole one Samsung Galaxy S4 cellular phone valued $140,000, property of Lorian Rodney.

The Court heard that Matthews and Rodney are known to each other and he is a regular visitor to her home. On the day in question around 09:00 hrs, Matthews went to Rodney’s home when he allegedly stole the phone.

Police Prosecutor Addoni Innis, successfully opposed bail on the grounds of the nature and gravity of the offence. The unrepresented man will make his next court appearance on March 09.
