[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – three – year old Donald Anthony Malcolm, a Jamaican National, who was arrested on Sunday for the murder of Guyanese Manu Durant has since provided the police with an oral confession of the crime.

iNews was reliably informed that the Jamaican National detailed to the police what led to the incident but made it clear to the police that he will only be documenting his statement in the presence of his lawyers, Latchmie Rahamat and Peter Hugh.

The Guyana Police Force is expected to check with the Interpol Office to verify if the suspect is wanted in Jamaica or elsewhere for any crimes.

On Saturday, June 06, the police reported that they were able to arrest the man at Eteringbang, Cuyuni River as he was about to flee the country.

Durant, a former wanted man, died after he was shot by the suspect during a confrontation at the Baroom Bar Strip Club, located on North Road, Georgetown.

iNews was reliably informed that during the confrontation, Durant was first to shoot at the man, who then returned fire, hitting Durant in the chest. He was rushed to a private hospital in an unconscious state, where he died a few hours later.

It is not clear what led to the confrontation between the two men. On February 12, 2008 police issued a wanted bulletin for Durant, in connection with the disappearance of the Tenisha Morgan of Friendship, East Coast Demerara, who was reportedly the girlfriend of the notorious criminal Rondell ‘fineman’ Rawlins.
