Gunmen rob Lucky Dollar Mon Repos branch

[] Police are hunting for two gunmen who invaded the Lucky Dollar Furniture Store at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara just after 10.00 hours this morning (Saturday, May 24).

iNews has been informed that the men walked into the store while there were few customers and held the staff and cashier at gunpoint where they relieved them of an undisclosed amount cash and valuables.

Following the act one of the suspected bandits escaped by jumping a fence aback the building. Persons could not confirm which direction the other bandit fled.

When iNews visited the location, the gates to the compound were closed and a security guard informed that the store was close for the day.

A Senior Manager related that after the men entered and robbed the employees an alarm was raised that sent the men scampering from the scene.Investigators could not say much about the incident only to say that it did occurred and that the police were investigating the matter. Several efforts to contact one of the directors at Lucky Dollar for a comment on the robber were futile. (Leroy Smith)
